The Cross Country.

Another big even this term was the cross country. It was a great afternoon and the children all ran their hardest. Unfortunately because of the snow, the Taieri Schools cross country didn't happen, but a big congratulations to all the children who placed.

What's been happening in Room One.

The term is nearly over and there has been nothing happening on our blog. Where does the time go!
We have had so many exciting things happening.
Firstly, a bunch of great new year ones joined us from Room 2.

Then we had a group of talented musicians from Taieri college come and entertain us with their band. It was pretty loud but we thought it was good.

Disco Divas!

Here a just a few pics of Room One dancing the night away at the junior school disco. The theme was princesses and super heroes and the costumes were very impressive! It was a great night and a great turn out. Good to see all those mums and dads doing a bit of dancing too.

Gin and Raspberry

We had a great concert from the 'Gin and Raspberry' man. He sang us songs about the whalers and the gold rush and about Sir Edmund Hillary. I was a fun way to learn a bit about our local history and we had fun singing his songs too!

Thanks to all for the family pics and the cans. Stay tuned for pics of what we did with them!

I like playing!

Today Angus took a picture of the ball wall. He took it because this is one of his favourite activities at school.

Winter tree

Today Ted took this photo. He said he thought it meant winter was coming because the tree had hardly any leaves left.
Its a great picture Ted, well done!

Goodbye college teachers.

We really enjoyed having Miss Lamb and Miss Kenny with us for 2 weeks. They are both first year students from the University of Otago college of Education. Outram was their first posting ever! Lucky for them that they got Room One who showed them how awesome learning and teaching can be! We said goodbye to them on Friday. Best wishes for your teaching future.

A very windy day

What a windy day! It was so windy that it blew the leaves everywhere, and broke branches off trees and it even cut the power to the school for a while. Luckily it died down after lunch but we still all had lunch inside to stay nice and safe and warm!
Thanks to Seth and Kayley, our windy day photographers.

Wrestler of the week

Well done to Blake who was awarded this trophy for being the wrestler of the week.
Blake says his favourite part of wrestling is playing bull rush.

Well done to our helmet winner, Seth the triathlon star!

What's in our bodies?

Today we had a nurse come and talk to us about what's inside our bodies and what happens when we eat different types of food.
She had wees, good ones are yellow and bad ones are brown.
She also told us about the heart, the lungs, the liver and kidneys and the brain which controls it all!

Bodies are really interesting.

Our Healthy Picnic.

Check us out basking in the sunshine and enjoying our healthy lunch. We chose wraps with chicken or ham, cheese, salad veges, a piece of fruit and a dairy food yoghurt. It was soo yummy!

After we had finished eating, we continued being healthy by getting some exercise playing at the park.

What a great day!

Tyler

We welcome Tyler to our class who has come to us from Christchurch.
His house and his school are not in a good way. Lets hope he has a great time in Room 1!

The first day

Kia ora everyone! Today was the first day back for 2011.

All the children were excited to be back. They came with new books, new bags and eager to learn! It was great to meet lots of mums and dads too.

We did lots of talking about routines and how we are going to treat each other this year. We also did a little bit of singing and some pictures and most of all just enjoyed getting to know each other.

Me and Mrs Buschl are really looking froward to the rest of the year!
